3/19 – On Writing

The trouble with writing

Is that it’s right there,

Staring at you from the page.

And sometimes that helps

to straighten turbulent thoughts;

At others it’s walls in a cage.

With thoughts always changing

evolving, emerging,

advancing, retreating and bare,

It’s a wonder we dare

to write anything down;

I guess it’s just better than air.

  1. This is TOTALLY how I have been feeling this weekend about writing, “staring at you from the page.” Your second stanza about our ever changing thoughts is also spot on.

  2. I think it is awesome that you came back to this idea and I love the flow and sentiment of this piece

    Your slice is just perfect for writers like me. these two lines- “it’s right there,
    Staring at you from the page” resonates with me as I am now finding it quite difficult to begin to write.

    Spot on about writing . . . nice rhymes, and I like the use of participles that fill your last stanza with action, writing is work.
